Valley Church is built on a commitment to the Bible as God's Word. Our simple and straightforward Statement of Faith affirms the historic truths of the Christian faith, while leaving room for differences on minor points of doctrine. Our Statement of Faith focuses on such core teachings as the trustworthiness and inerrancy of the Bible, the Trinity, the fact that Jesus is God in human flesh, the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross, the physical resurrection of Christ and the return of Christ.

Because of our commitment to biblical essentials, Valley Church attracts people from a wide variety of personal and church (or unchurched) backgrounds. "Majoring on the majors" is our attitude.

Our church's vision is to help people become wholehearted followers of Jesus Christ. We emphasize helping people come to know God personally and grow in a relationship with him. We believe in building a community founded on Christian love and Scriptural truth. We recognize the need for contemporary relevancy, while affirming unchanging principles.

Valley Church is a young, vibrant church with a short, exciting history. With a handful of families, Valley Church was commissioned by the Johnston Evangelical Free Church to begin public worship on March 4, 1990. Forty adults, youth and children attended the first worship service.
For the next ten years, Valley Church grew steadily in faith, spirit and in size. After ten years of meeting in public school facilities, the church grew to nearly 1000 attenders on an average Sunday morning. In October 2000, Valley Church moved into its own ministry facility in West Des Moines on the corner of Fuller Road and Mills Civic Parkway.
